Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Ait Benhaddou → Zagora

Our adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your Marrakech accommodation. We immediately start our ascent into the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the dramatic Tizi n'Tichka pass at an elevation of 2,260 meters. The winding road offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Our first major stop is the legendary Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a striking example of a fortified village. After exploring this historic location, we'll continue towards Ouarzazate, the "Gateway to the Desert." From there, our route takes us south, following the magnificent Draa Valley, a lush ribbon of over a million palm trees. As evening approaches, we'll arrive in Zagora, the desert town at the edge of the Sahara, where we'll have dinner and spend the night in a local hotel.

Day 2: Zagora → Draa Valley Exploration → Sunset Camel Trek → Desert Camp

After a relaxed breakfast, we'll spend part of the morning further exploring the incredible Draa Valley, visiting ancient kasbahs and learning about the traditional way of life in this oasis. In the afternoon, the real desert adventure begins. We'll drive to the point where the paved road ends and meet our camel caravan. You'll mount your camel for a memorable 1.5-hour trek into the dunes of the Zagora desert. We'll time our arrival perfectly to witness a stunning sunset over the rocky desert landscape. Your destination is a traditional Berber desert camp, where you'll be welcomed with mint tea and hospitality. The evening is filled with a delicious Moroccan dinner, Berber drum music around a crackling campfire, and a chance to gaze at the brilliant, star-filled night sky.

Day 3: Zagora → Ouarzazate → Tizi n'Tichka → Marrakech

An early wake-up call allows you to experience the magic of a desert sunrise, a truly serene and unforgettable moment. After breakfast at the camp, you'll ride your camel back to meet your driver. Our return journey takes us back through the Draa Valley and towards Ouarzazate, where we'll stop for lunch (not included). Fully energized, we begin the final leg of our trip, crossing back over the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass. The scenery is just as impressive on the return journey. We expect to arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening, where your driver will drop you off at your accommodation, concluding your express desert adventure.
